Quiet Kalahari
Hotel Conceptualization & Identity System
The Okavango Delta is a unique delta in Botswana that rivers flow into once a year. Due to climate change, this is becoming more unpredictable. Several specie rely on this event, and the conservation of this delta is key in the survival of these species.
Context:
I was tasked with creating a primary lettermark, lockup, and identity system around the concept of a hotel. The hotel is dedicated to the conservation of the Delta, with proceeds benefiting the Tswana tribe and surrounding conservation efforts.
The Brief:
Demonstrated Skills
Diving deeper.
The foundation of this project was the integration of sustainability in both the field of graphic design and the development of a brand. I wanted to incorporate sustainable practices within this project and dove deeper to do more research to be able to design products and systems around sustainability.
The Sustainable Development Goal involves considering the production and consumption of materials, as well as their disposal. Applying this goal to the project, I wanted to use recycled paper and locally sourced materials to create all of the system’s stationery and packaging.
This Sustainable Development Goal focuses on many more people on the climate issues our world faces right now. Similarly, the focus of the hotel is to immerse people in the local culture and make them more aware of these issues through an engaging experience.
This Sustainable Development Goal encourages people to preserve life on land. Since many of the species of the Okavango Delta rely on the land, some of the proceeds from the hotel will go to the local Tswana tribe and to conservation efforts in the Okavango Delta.
